History
The club is situated on the beach at Uphill, a scenic historic village about two miles along the sea front from Weston Super Mare. Uphill is a small village on the south side of Weston Bay, which extends beween Brean Down to the south, Birnbeck Island and the old pier to the north. This area of the Bristol Channel is a popular tourist area, with all kinds of water sports held nearer the shore. Uphill has a long history of prehistoric settlements, piracy, sea trading and in the last century, quarrying. During the summer, visitors come to Uphill to enjoy the beach or a walk on the Mendip Way. On the hill behind the village is the ancient church of St. Nicholas which is still in use - and the remains of the old windmill which can be seen from Weston beach. There are two attractive old pubs in the village within easy walking distance of the beach.
